Wedding Day Hair Preparation

Thinking of a new hair style for your wedding?  Sounds like fun - but plan ahead.  Start experimenting four to six months before your wedding in case your experiment doesn't work out the way you hope. 

Plus, if you make a major hairstyle change you may feel self-conscious or anxious about how you look.  The last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is how you look, so again - plan ahead.

After you find the look you want - and your hair stylist is able to create that look for you - every month have your hair stylist tune you up.  Even though you may get tired of the same style for a few months, you'll look your best on your wedding day and for your wedding photos.  After the wedding you can feel free to make a major change.

Most brides have their hair styled the day of the wedding.  It's comforting to know someone else is responsible for how you look.  You can visit the hair salon that day, but keep in mind you'll need to keep your hair intact until the wedding starts.  Many stylists will travel to your wedding location and style your hair just before the wedding.  As a bonus having your stylist at the wedding location keeps you out of the wind and rain and also allows for last-minute touch-ups before you walk down the aisle.

Here's an important note:  In our experience, hair stylists (and makeup artists) cause the greatest number of pre-ceremony delays.  We've photographed weddings where a slow hair stylist delayed the start of the ceremony for more than an hour.  Make sure your stylist knows when you need him or her to be finished, and do your best to keep your stylist on track.  If you feel he or she is falling behind schedule, say so.  Don't be afraid to make sure your stylist stays on track - after all, you're paying for the service.  Make sure your stylist understands you want to stick to your schedule.
