How to Evaluate a Reception Site |
How to Evaluate a Reception SiteIf you're like most couples, your biggest expense will be for your reception. When you evaluate different sites, make sure you compare apples to apples. Here are some questions you should ask when you evaluate a reception site.
- How many guests can you comfortably handle?
- Is your parking adequate for the number of guests I expect? If not, where will they park, and will someone direct them to additional parking areas?
- How big is your dance floor, and how many people can comfortably be on it?
- Do you offer in-house catering? If I choose to, can I use my own caterer? (Some venues will only let you use their caterer.)
- Do you supply tables, chairs, dinnerware, and linens?
- Can your facility accommodate a band? Do you have adequate wiring and space? How early on the day of our wedding can the band set up?
- Do you have photos of previous receptions so I can see how the facility might look?
- If my reception runs long, is there an additional charge?
- We're having an open bar - do you supply alcohol and mixers or do I?
- We're having a cash bar - what are your prices and how are they calculated?
- Do you have another reception or event planned for the same time? If so, will they interfere with my reception?
- Who will I contact on the day of the wedding if there's a problem?
- Are there accommodations for my fiancee and I to change before we leave?
- How will you lay out the room? How many guests per table?
- What are our responsibilities (if any) in terms of cleanup or removal of decorations or personal items?
- What other potential charges might exist? (Excessive cleanup, additional guests, etc)?
